A recent Japanese acquisition
Rarely seen, this Japanese octopus fishing pot was used to trap octopus on old Japan’s high seas coastline areas. Also known as a tako tsubo it dates to the Meiji period, 19th century.
Remarkably good condition and still boasting its original sea shell and coral encrusted surfaces plus remnant of an old rope. .
Dimensions: 10 inches tall and 9 inches diameter.
